I once had the opportunity to hear Professor Nina Garrett from Yale University speak on the topic of "Whither the Language Lab?"  I believe that this same question can--and should--always be applied to the use of technology in language and culture learning.

In both my teaching and research, I strive to integrate language and culture learning through the effective use of technology in the educational experience.  This indicates that technological resources should be well-researched in relation to course goals.  In addition, it is important to consider the research implications that technology used "for technology's sake" is not effective.  Rather, both students and teachers benefit from a thoughtful, integrated use of technology no matter the level of instruction.
